These cartoons appeared in various trailer magazines and publications before they were vintage...
With this cartoon Trailer Travel [March 1937] introduced... "the first of a series depicting the humorous side of trailer life. Drawn by Edwin Hunter, the cartoons presented the wizward of trailerdom, a man who has a solution to every trailer problem. Featured with this genius of the rolling home is his wife who points with pride to his every ahievement as a masterpiece..." A contest was held by the magazine to name the character in the cartoon. The magazine posted a prize of $5 to the winner.
The winner (May 1937 issue): Introducing Mr. Will Solvitt From the tremendous pile of entries which came in response to our plea in the March issue for a name for this wizard of the trailer highways the judges have selected as most appropriate the title "Will Solvitt." Hereafter, this zany and his adoring wife will travel through these pages with that name. The winning suggestion was submitted by Frank G. Davis, Springfield, Ohio.--The Editors
