Ocean Mesa March 2017
Green Acres was the place to be. Vintage trailer camping is the life for me. Land spreadin' out so far and wide. Keep The city, just give me Ocean Mesa. Remembering Green Acres as a television series that ran from 1965-1971, it was the theme for the Ocean Mesa Rally.
Palm Springs Modernism Vintage Trailer Show 2017
While Modernism Week was February 16 – 26, 2017 and many wonderful events were offered, the vintage trailer show took place on the very last 2 days. The vintage trailer exhibition showcased a diverse collection of trailers, buses, motorhomes, vendors and vintage tow vehicles. Vintage trailer caretakers were on hand and talked about their trailer’s history, restoration and travels.
1937-38 Hayes Trailers
In May of 1937, Hayes, with 25 years of fine automobile body experience, advertised the Hayes trailer as “a complete house — five rooms combined in one — living room, dining room, bedroom, kitchen, bath . . .and lasts indefinitely because it’s the world’s only ALL SAFETY STEEL, ALL-ELECTRIC-WELDED trailer.”
4th Annual Murphy Auto Museum Vintage Trailer Show "Lets Go Camping" Show June 25, 2016
The 4th Annual Vintage Trailer Show took place on June 25, 2016 with 40+ vintage trailers in attendance. Here are a few pictures of the trailers to enjoy. Thank you to David, Steven, Christi, Ken, Murphy Gang (staff) and fellow trailerites for such a wonderful weekend. We know how much work it was to put on this fund-raising show/mini-rally. Steven worked non-stop the entire weekend; we were exhausted just watching him. What a great team you have David! Your events are always user-friendly!!!
2nd Annual Golden Village Palms Vintage Trailer Show
The resort successfully hosted their second annual vintage trailer and classic car show. Their choice of tribute bands had the audience dancing on their feet. All trailers are not shown in the pictures -- I was not able to take snapshots of some trailers as my camera battery ran out; and I did, too. My apologies if your trailer is not shown. The resort provided many vintage-style activities throughout the weekend giving us many choices.
2nd Time Campout February 2016
This was dry camping with plenty to do and see in the Lake Havasu area. Hosts Cherri and Mike provided a relaxed and pleasant climate which contributed to the friendly networking and interactions with fellow trailerites. We met plenty of visitors, permanent residents and part-time snow birds as well as folks camping elsewhere around the lake. Many new friends were made (many spend half the year in Havasu) which brought folks from many different states - yet we had all our little gems in common.

Vintage Tents
We've always enjoyed tent camping as children and as young adults before we could afford to take the "big step up" to campers and motorhomes. When we switched gears and took an interest in vintage trailering, we began using the tents for storage at the rallies, sleep quarters for additional guests and as outdoor props. Umbrella and auto tents are as important to the history of recreational camping as are the ol' trailers.
3rd Annual Lone Pine Roundup Vintage Trailer Rally, October 2015
Great area for exploring. This year, we visited the Independence Museum, the Lone Pine Film Museum (a tradition) and the Cerro Gordo Mining Town. For the Cerro Gordo excursion pictures, please vsit the Roadtrippin' section.
Buellton Bash September 2015
David Neel's Buellton Bash is one of the most popular vintage trailer rallies in southern California. He condenses a myriad of activities/events in just a couple days challenging us to stay actively engaged. This annual Bash is so successful, he is adding a third day in 2016. We were so busy participating that we did not get as many pictures of the many fabulous vintage trailers in attendance that we'd have loved to get.
